Privacy
What the app and this site collect, and what they never will.
The app, in one line
Plainword Session, the iPhone app, collects nothing and sends nothing to us. There is no account, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no telemetry. The app is built with no code that connects to the internet. Its App Store privacy label will read "Data Not Collected".
Where a client's words go
The recording is made on the phone and turned into text on the phone. It is deleted as soon as the text is ready, and it never leaves the phone. There is no setting to keep it and nothing to play back. The text stays on the phone, encrypted, behind Face ID or your passcode.
How long the text stays
7 days by default. You can set any number of days up to 30. The day before a transcript is deleted, the phone shows a reminder that never names the client or shows any text, and you can turn it off. You can delete any session sooner. Deletion is real: the file is removed and its key is thrown away. There is no trash and no undo.
Who said what
The app tells the two voices in a session apart on the phone, for that session only. Nothing about anyone's voice is stored, exported, or compared between sessions. You can fix any line by hand.
Your consent list
For each client, the phone keeps the label you type, their consent answer, its date and how it was given. Use initials or a code, not full names. Each session's text begins with your announcement and your client's answer. If a client says no, the phone keeps one line in its log and nothing else. The list stays until you delete the client, and you can export it as plain text.
What protects it
The app will not record on a phone without a passcode, and it asks for Face ID or the passcode every time you open it. We hold no key and no copy. That means we can never read your transcripts, and it also means we can never recover them. If the phone and its passcode are both lost, the transcripts on it are gone. Anything you already copied into your notes is wherever you put it.
If you copy or share a transcript
Before anything leaves, the app tells you that the full transcript is about to go to your clipboard or to the app you pick, and that we cannot see where it goes or take it back. Names are removed first unless you turn that off: the client label, and every name on your word list. Copied text stays on this phone's clipboard, not your other devices, and clears after 5 minutes. The session log notes the time and whether names were removed, never where it went. What the receiving app does with it is between you and that app.
The beta
During the beta, the app comes to you through Apple's TestFlight, which has its own feedback and crash reporting under Apple's terms. Never send a screenshot of a session. Tell us what broke in words.
This website
The site collects only what you type into the beta form: your name and practice, your email, your role, your iPhone, the state you see clients in, how you write notes today, whether you want to hear about Plainword Desk, and anything you add in the last box. The form is handled by Formspree, which keeps a copy in its dashboard and sends one to Vishnu's email inbox. Nobody else receives it. Both copies are deleted when the beta ends, or sooner if you ask. This form is the only thing that reaches us. The app sends us nothing. Please put no client information in the form. This site has no cookies, no analytics, and no trackers.
Plainword Desk
Plainword Desk, the Mac app, is not out yet. This page will cover it before it ships.
